Hi All
Buoy 10 at Astoria, OR and the Lower Columbia near Longview, WA has been good to us this season. The big King run has come through like expected although some days were better than others good fishing was had by all. I can’t believe it never rained the whole time we were here! This week we moved up river from Astoria to fish near Longview, WA after the king season closed on the night of the 28th of Aug for the lower river section below Tongue Point. Here in Longview we practice “Hawg Line Fishing” where you anchor up in organized lines and present your gear to the fish out the back of the boat. This type of fishing can be slow at times, but when the bite turns on and rods start folding over it gets exciting in a hurry. Today Doug and I took our last trip, a group of 9 guys from CPSI and had a great day. I believe 11 kings were boated in all in a little over 4 hrs of fishing time. These fish were all in the 15-30 lb class and all filleted out with bright orange meat, good quality fish! Doug headed back to Clarkston today after our trip. I will stay and fish here for 2 more days through the weekend (family and friends who are headed here tonight) before heading home on Monday. I look forward to seeing my wife & kids tonight for sure! I plan to get right on the Salmon when I get home; I guess the fishing near Lewiston is already producing quite well. We are about to go into the busiest part of our season and I need to get all of my ducks in a row before I am on the river for 3 months strait. I also want to shout out a SPECIAL THANKS to all of you who fished with us these last 30 days. It was a very long drive to the WA/ OR coast for a lot of you so thank you so much for coming to fish with us!
