Current Fishing Reports
04-29-10
Hi to all my fishing fanatics out there,
Just a quick report on the current fishing in the Lewiston area. The Spring Chinook are coming in hordes right now over the dams. Bonneville dam is seeing 6000 – 11000 fish per day right now and the Snake river dam counts are proof that the bulk of the run is coming right to our front door! For once the predictions are looking spot on. We are just now starting to see the Springers show up at Lewiston in fishable numbers. Here is a pic of Brad Johnson and our first 13 lb Springer of the season.
We caught this fish on the Snake R. below Lower Granite dam 2 days ago while experimenting with some new possible fishing areas. I like these Washington waters because of the 2 fish limit right now. Idaho currently has a 1 adult limit on the Clearwater and should be bumping it to 2 fish very soon. The word is that Washington may open the Snake from Lewiston to Heller Bar and guess what… 4 fish limit!!!! Wow, I hope this comes true!
I have about 10-15 days left to book for Springers so let me know if anyone need to lock in a date.
Also the Spring Fishing is firing off on the Snake River in Hells Canyon and the Bass, Sturgeon and Salmon are getting ready to play. With over 15,000 Springers expected to migrate to Hells Canyon Dam it could be some of the best Salmon fishing to be had here in our area. I had a Bass and Sturgeon trip yesterday and even though it is a little early in the season we did quite well. We caught 5 Sturgeon with the biggest being over 7 ½ feet, and bass up to 3.5 lbs. Here is a pic of the big sturgeon that everyone took turns fighting yesterday! The weather has been a little rough here with wind and rain making fishing conditions less than perfect, but we are still managing to get decent action! If anyone is interested in a 3 day 2 night Salmon / Sturgeon combo let me know and lets shoot for early – mid June for the best all around action!
Thanks and Fish On!!!!!
